Can Maintenance departments and smart machines co-exist?

You have all heard the statistics, by the end of 2014, there will be more connected devices then people in the world. At the same time, there will be a shortage of intellectual capital to help companies leverage the digitalization of manufacturing, as machines continue to become increasingly smarter and informative.

With all of the added hype around M2M,  the IOT (Internet of Things) and the Cloud, does this mean that there is no longer a place for a well-seasoned maintenance technician or supervisor? Of course not, that would be as absurd, as concluding that only a millennial can do effective digital marketing.

To optimize business performance, you need to combine innovation with business process expertise. Companies that successfully institutionalize their best practices further empowered by technology will continue to win.  Knowledge based software systems that monitize a company’s intellectual capital will become increasingly important as people, devices, and systems become more connected.

On Wednesday morning, June 18, during The Mainstream EAM Management Conference, Paul Boris,Global VP, Manufacturing & Operations, Mobility, from SAP will discuss how companies can fully leverage the knowledge worker by empowering workers with innovation, where work is performed, during his talk the “The Rise of The Humans”

Please be sure to join Paul's discussion and stop by the SAP demo pod to see the latest in worker empowerment, leveraging innovations like Predictive Analytics, Mobility with GIS space recognition and 3D visualization. While attending, you will receive a complimentary copy of the Aberdeen Research benchmarking report, Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) in Asset Intensive Industries, and an opportunity to win a pair of Vuzix virtual-reality, smart glasses.

We look forward to meeting with you at the conference. If you have a specific need or wish to meet with one of our experts, please contact me at harry.blunt@sap.com.

Warmest regards,

Harry Blunt
